This guide is for users who have access to SwiftRev Reports – editors and admins.
For free submissions, there is an “automatic decline” feature for editorial consideration. It is time-based and contains the following controls and functionality.
Main points to understand:
- Automatic declines apply to free submissions only (these do not show up in the Paid Press Release channel, but instead present the press release for editorial consideration only).
- Editors are given a window of time to either “Claim” these free submissions/press releases and write about them or “Decline” them, a clear signal that their earned media attempt has failed, and a resulting messaging encouraging a move to paid media via posting in the Press Release Channel.
- Should the editors neither claim or decline a specific press release, it will automatically be declined.
- This “automatic decline window” is measured in hours and is set initially at the account level but can be also modified at the brand level.
How to set up the Automatic Decline Window, at the Account Level
Note: you must have Admin access to make Account-level changes.
Go to: Settings > Ecommerce > Free Submissions
The default is 8 hours. Why? News value decreases very quickly. A paid press release purchase is much more likely if made same-day as the news, i.e. 8 hours.
In hours, the selection of choices are:
- 8
- 12
- 24
- 48
Important: The Account value will be used for each brand, unless the brand selects their own value.
How to Set up the Automatic Decline Window, at the Brand Level
Are you an editor who wants a bit more control? Great news – you can control the length of time for your specific brand.
Go to: Brands > Your Brand > Settings > Free Submissions
In hours, the selection of choices are:
- 8
- 12
- 24
- 48
Note – the longer the window of time, the less likely a paid press release will result, as news ages very quickly.
